Hydraulic motor

Surely anyone interested in equipment and technology knows that a basic hydraulic system includes: oil or hydraulic fluid, accessories and reservoirs, pumps, valves, cylinders, and especially the necessary hydraulic motor. And this proved the importance, indispensable of this device.
What is a hydraulic motor? This is certainly not your question, but many customers are interested in this device.
A motor, also known as a hydraulic motor, is basically a mechanical transmission device, made of metal and used in a system that runs on oil, grease or other hydraulic fluid.
Its task is to convert hydraulic energy in two forms: pressure and flow into mechanical energy. The generated energy is then transferred to the pump. That is, it converts mechanical energy into rotational energy.
The liquid or oil will press down to create a continuous rotation force that acts on the pump and causes the pump to run.

The two features of this device are speed and torque:

+ The speed will be calculated and measured by the number of revolutions in 1 unit of time, i.e. minutes.

+ Torque is the pressure drop and displacement in the motor. Pressure still appears at the exhaust port of the engine, and the large difference between the inlet and outlet pressures has created a working pressure.

In fact, many people confuse the pump with the motor. However, in reality, these two types of devices are not the same. If the pump only sucks in oil and delivers oil without converting energy, the motor converts electrical energy into rotating mechanical energy.

Depending on the requirements and characteristics of each system, customers can choose a suitable mini hydraulic motor or a large 5-star hydraulic motor, basically meeting the operational tasks in any period and time.

Types of hydraulic motors

If we search the market, we will see that there are thousands of different types of hydraulic motors in terms of design, size, capacity, manufacturer... Therefore, choosing a suitable device becomes much more difficult. much. Motor is divided into 3 basic types as follows: piston, gear, vane based on structure and operation.

Hydraulic piston engine

Compared with other types of oil pump hydraulic motors, piston motors are more differentiated in terms of axial and radial shapes.

This type of piston hydraulic motor is highly appreciated by customers: the actual starting torque is higher than the design of the motor. It ensures stable and smooth operation with long service life, less damage and failure.

In a radial piston engine, the pistons are perpendicular to the crankshaft. When power is supplied, the crankshaft rotates and the piston moves linearly with fluid pressure.

In some other types, the pistons are arranged in a circle inside the motor housing, so when rotated, the shafts are aligned with the pump piston. If the piston is axial, there will be two types: straight shaft piston motor, curved shaft piston motor.

Geared hydraulic motor

The type of motor that people can easily find in the market is the hydraulic gear motor.

The design of this type of motor will consist of 2 gears: unloaded and fixed on the output shaft.

When high-pressure oil or hydraulic fluid is introduced into one side of the transmission. It will flow around the gear and into the motor housing where it is then squeezed out of the motor.

Because gear motors are durable, less damaged and cause almost no problems, they are chosen by many people and are becoming popular in our country. However, customers need to pay attention to fluid loss and pressure from inlet to outlet as this affects the engine, generates heat and reduces efficiency.

Hydraulic vane motor

In addition to the gear motor, customers have other choices for medium and low pressure systems. The design of the hydraulic vane motor has the difference that the shaft hole is eccentric compared to the housing.

The motor rotor will move in and out, the movement of the high pressure oil will create a force that will force the rotor to rotate in one direction only.

What customers should keep in mind when choosing a hydraulic motor is: The geared motor is the cheapest solution, suitable for working systems requiring medium pressure and flow.

Meanwhile, the piston engine will be the choice for systems that require high oil flow, high pressure during operation. And this type of equipment is more expensive than the other two types.

Besides, there is also a star-shaped hydraulic motor, also known as a 5-star motor. Like other types of motors, the 5-star motor performs continuous rotation as the output of the system. The structure of this engine resembles a star with 5 wings, which is why it is called a 5-star engine.

Hydraulic motors can also be divided by manufacturer, origin, capacity, material...

Application of the hydraulic motor

Almost all viscous, oil and liquid operated hydraulic systems that use a pump require a hydraulic motor.

People divide hydraulic motors into two main types: low torque and high torque.
